Overview

Deadline Companion replaces Chrome’s New Tab page with a countdown and optional quick links. It is developed by Hugo Biais. No account is required, and the extension contains no advertising, analytics, tracking SDKs, or developer-operated backend.

Settings and Chrome Sync

The extension stores the title, deadline date and time, and quick-link names and URLs you enter, together with display preferences. It uses Chrome extension storage (chrome.storage.sync). These settings remain available in your browser and may be synchronized through Google’s Chrome Sync service when enabled. They are not sent to or accessible by the developer. Google’s handling of Chrome Sync data is governed by its own privacy policy and your Chrome settings.

Network requests and permissions

The extension itself makes no network requests to fetch content, analytics, fonts, or remote code. The storage permission is used only to remember your settings. It does not request access to your browsing history or website content. When you choose a quick link, Chrome opens the destination website, which handles the visit under its own privacy policy.

Your choices and retention

Use the gear on the New Tab page to edit your settings or remove quick links. Reset replaces the saved settings with the defaults. Uninstalling removes the extension’s local data; synchronized data is also subject to Chrome Sync settings and Google’s retention practices. The developer cannot retrieve or delete your Chrome Sync data on your behalf.

Sharing and sale

The developer does not receive, sell, or share your extension settings and does not use them for advertising, profiling, or credit decisions. Chrome Sync, when enabled, is the service used to synchronize your settings.
